Kent Police received a report at around 10.30pm on Saturday 9 May 2026 that a woman had been raped by a man she met earlier that evening in two Maidstone town centre locations.
It is alleged the incidents happened between 7pm and 10pm at a venue in the High Street and near a church in Mill Street. A 50 year old man from Chatham was arrested on Monday 11 May and remains in custody pending further enquiries.
Anyone with information is urged to call 999, quoting reference 46/73799/26. Local residents with private CCTV or drivers with dashcam, who may have been in the area at the time of the incident, are also asked to check for footage.
