Kent Police was called at 10.37pm on Thursday 7 May 2026 to an incident involving a car and motorbike in St Mary’s Road.
Emergency services attended the scene and two teenage boys who were on the bike were taken to hospital for treatment to injuries. One remains in hospital in a serious condition and the other was later discharged. The driver of the car was also treated in hospital and then arrested in connection with the incident.
A man aged 39, from Swanley was later charged with two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and was conditionally bailed to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 8 June.
A 16 year old boy was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Investigators are connecting the collision to a reported disturbance at an address in Cherry Avenue that took place several minutes before the collision. As part of these enquiries, the boy who was on the bike and had left hospital was arrested on suspicion of robbery and later bailed.

‘We’re aware of the impact these incidents had on the community and how disruptive it was for residents.
‘We’d like to thank the members of public for their support during our initial enquiries, which saw cordons in place for the majority of Friday and a local school closed temporarily.
‘The investigation continues and we’d urge anyone who has information on either of the incidents, no matter how small it may seem, to come forward and let us know.’
