Charges Brought Following Death of Romney Marsh Man


Detectives investigating the death of a man in Romney Marsh have charged a suspect with murder.

Kent Police were called on the morning of Thursday 14 May 2026 following concerns for a person in Holly Road, St Mary’s Bay. Officers and paramedics attended the scene, where a man in his 90s was confirmed deceased. The victim’s next of kin have since been informed of his passing.

A suspect was arrested shortly afterwards and taken into police custody. Officers understand that both men were known to each other.


On Friday 15 May, a 66-year-old man from Cheriton Road, Folkestone, was formally charged with murder. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 16 May.
