Two suspects were arrested within 30 minutes of police receiving reports of suspicious behaviour at a golf club in Chestfield, near Whitstable.

Kent Police were called to a car park in Chestfield Road at 1:16 pm on Friday, 15 May 2026, following reports of a man looking into the windows of parked vehicles. The suspect subsequently left the scene in a red saloon car.

Officers arrived at the location and carried out a search of the local area and by 1:41 pm, a 44-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman, both from Essex, were arrested on suspicion of theft at a different golf centre in nearby Collingwood Road.


Subsequent searches by officers led to the recovery of suspected stolen golf clubs, vehicle registration plates, and a disguise kit containing clothes, a wig, and a pair of sunglasses. A suspected stolen car was also seized by police. The man and woman have since been bailed pending further enquiries.
