Proactive Patrols Crack Down in Tonbridge Town Centre

A half-kilogramme of cannabis and a ‘zombie’ knife have been seized, and three arrests made, during a targeted day of action in Tonbridge.

Proactive patrols spotted two teenagers behaving suspiciously near Tonbridge railway station on Monday 18 May 2026. Subsequent searches carried out by officers led to the recovery of a large knife and a substantial quantity of cannabis. A 17-year-old from Ticehurst, Sussex, was arrested for possession of a bladed weapon in public and possession of cannabis. A 16-year-old from Bromley, London, was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs. Both teenagers have since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Officers carried out 16 stop and searches in the space of just a few hours, which also resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old man wanted on recall to prison. He has since been remanded in custody. Additionally, four other people found to be in possession of cannabis were issued with Community Resolution Orders.

PS Charlie Dyson, from the Tonbridge Neighbourhood Task Force, said:

“Our teams are dedicated to keeping communities safe and will continue to stop and search anyone behaving suspiciously in a bid to take dangerous items, and people, off the streets.”
