Folkestone Town Council (FTC) is pleased to announce that, following positive and constructive negotiations with Kent County Council (KCC), it has successfully completed the acquisition of the freehold of 2 Grace Hill.
This landmark agreement ensures that a valued local asset is brought back into community ownership, securing its long-term future for the benefit of residents and the wider town.
The Town Mayor of Folkestone, Councillor Jackie Meade, said:
“We are delighted to have reached this agreement with Kent County Council. Securing the freehold of 2 Grace Hill is a significant achievement and a proud moment for Folkestone. This is about safeguarding an important site and ensuring its future is shaped by, and for, our community.”
Looking ahead, FTC and its partners share an ambitious vision for the building’s future. The plan includes the highly anticipated return of the library to Grace Hill, alongside the creation of a dynamic hub for cultural and creative industries. Furthermore, the space will be transformed into social and community areas designed to bring together the town’s hugely important voluntary sector.
