A drug dealer from Swanley who stored firearms inside a van has been sentenced to five years in prison following a series of police raids.

Luke Carney, 28, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Monday 8 June 2026 after officers uncovered weapons, a large quantity of cash, and evidence of Class A drug supply.
The investigation began on the morning of 6 November 2025, when officers executed a Misuse of Drugs Act warrant at Carney’s home address. Although Carney was not present at the time, a search of a van registered in his name led to the discovery and seizure of several weapons. The following day, Carney was intercepted and detained on the M4 motorway by a patrol from South Wales Police. He was subsequently charged with possession of a prohibited weapon—specifically a revolver—alongside possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession of a shotgun without a certificate.
Carney was initially released on conditional court bail, but his legal troubles deepened the following month. On 11 December, officers executed a second search warrant at his Swanley property. During this raid, police seized approximately £12,000 in cash and counterfeit money, alongside drug paraphernalia and four mobile phones.
Following the second search, Carney was re-arrested and charged with possession of criminal property and being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, leading to his recent five-year custodial sentence.
Detective Sergeant Tony Hatcher said:
‘Any drug dealer deserves to be in jail and one who is in possession of lethal weapons can expect a lengthy prison sentence. Our officers were determined to bring Carney to justice and evidence of his offending was recovered during two searches of his home.
‘The misuse of Class A drugs brings misery to families and the wider community and Swanley will undoubtedly be a safer place while this man is in jail.’
