A man has been charged following a series of shoplifting incidents and an assault across Dover.
The suspect allegedly stole goods worth more than £1,500 from multiple retail outlets in the town between 2 May and 20 June 2026. Among the incidents, the individual is accused of stealing £256 worth of meat from an Aldi store. He is also alleged to have assaulted a staff member inside a Co-op branch on 20 June.
Following an arrest on 27 June, the suspect was charged with 16 counts of theft and one count of assault.
The 38-year-old, from Dover, was remanded in custody and appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Monday 29 June. He has since been granted bail and is scheduled to reappear at the same court on 11 August.
