An investigation into a series of car thefts across west Kent has resulted in a suspect being charged and remanded in custody.
Between early April and mid-May 2026, police received three separate reports of stolen vehicles in Leybourne, Otford, and Sevenoaks. In two of these incidents, car keys were reportedly taken from inside the victims’ homes before the vehicles were driven away.
Following an investigation, a 34-year-old suspect from Orpington was arrested in late May and initially released on bail while enquiries continued. He was subsequently charged with two counts of burglary, three counts of vehicle theft, and driving whilst disqualified.
The accused appeared before Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court, where he was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear next at Maidstone Crown Court in early August.
