Kent Police have arrested two people following incidents of antisocial behaviour at a community event near the bandstand in Victoria Gardens, Broadstairs.

Officers were called to the coastal town on the evening of Wednesday 22 July 2026 after reports of a disturbance involving a group of young people. Attending patrols formally dispersed the crowd and arrested a 13-year-old boy on suspicion of assault. Investigating officers have spoken with the teenager’s parents as part of ongoing enquiries, and a formal investigation is now under way.

During the same evening, officers made a second, separate arrest, detaining a 60-year-old man for failing to appear at court.

To regain control of the area throughout the evening, police invoked Section 34 dispersal powers 15 times to clear groups and individuals engaging in unwanted behaviour. Patrols also completed 10 stop-and-search procedures, resulting in the seizure of a small quantity of cannabis and the issuance of two community resolutions.

Members of the public who witnessed the incident or have relevant information are asked to contact Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/119564/26.
