At around 11.45pm on Saturday 25 July 2026, a man in his 30s was walking with a friend from Chapel Place towards the High Street when they were joined by a group of teenagers, who were unknown to them.
The pair continued to Mount Sion where, at its junction with the High Street, one of the group asked the victim if they would follow his business on social media but as the victim took out his mobile device to do so, it is alleged he was assaulted by some of the group and his phone was stolen.
CCTV, dashcam footage and witnesses are sought by officers investigating the reported robbery in Tunbridge Wells. The suspects, who are described as being black males, aged between 16 and 20, fled the scene.
One was later detained and taken into custody. The 16 year old was subsequently released on bail pending further enquiries. Officers believe members of the public were in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident.
