Three suspected thieves have been taken into custody following a police chase through West Peckham.
Proactive police patrols spotted a suspicious vehicle travelling along the A26 Tonbridge Road towards Seven Mile Lane around 10pm on Sunday, 9 August 2026. When officers signalled for the car to pull over, the driver refused, prompting a brief pursuit that ended when the vehicle was brought to a halt in Borough Green.
A search of the car led to the recovery of two barrels filled with fuel, and all three occupants were detained at the scene.
Two men in their 20s, from Durham and Surrey, were arrested on suspicion of motor vehicle theft, theft from a vehicle, and general theft. The third occupant, a man in his 30s from Surrey, was arrested on suspicion of identical theft charges, as well as multiple motoring offences including dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving without a licence or insurance. All three suspects remain in custody while police enquiries continue.
