Multiple theft charges have been secured against a suspected repeat shoplifter following a targeted investigation by neighbourhood officers in Hythe.
The charges follow a series of incidents reported to Kent Police involving a town supermarket between April and July. A significant quantity of high-value meat products, including steaks and beef joints with a total estimated value exceeding £1,900, was reported stolen on several separate occasions.
Following extensive local enquiries—including reviewing CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses—officers located and arrested a suspect in the High Street on Wednesday afternoon.
A twenty-five-year-old resident from the local area was subsequently charged with eight counts of theft. The accused has been released on conditional bail and is scheduled to appear before magistrates in Folkestone later this year.
