A major police search of a residential property in Kent led to the recovery of several illegal weapons and live railway explosives following an emergency call-out.
Emergency services were dispatched to Canterbury Street shortly before 1pm on Saturday 15 August after reports emerged of a violent disturbance. Upon arrival, officers responded to allegations of an assault and damage to a parked vehicle. A suspect was arrested at the scene following a brief struggle, during which threats and violence were directed towards officers.
Subsequent searches of the property and garden yielded a haul of prohibited items and inside the address police seized a baton, a knuckle duster, and a stun gun capable of discharging an electric shock. Furthermore, a search of a shed in the rear garden uncovered seven railway detonators (small explosive devices typically attached to railway tracks to emit a loud warning signal to train drivers in emergencies).
Following the discovery, charges were brought for multiple offences including criminal damage, acquiring explosives without a valid certificate, possession of a prohibited electrical weapon, possession of offensive weapons in a private place, public order offences, and assault on an emergency worker alongside common assault.
The accused appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday 17 August and was granted conditional bail. The case is scheduled to resume at the same court on 29 January 2027.
