A murder investigation has been launched after a man in his 40s was fatally stabbed inside a residential property in Maidstone.
Emergency services were called to an address in Knightrider Street at 10.21pm on Monday 7 September following reports of a violent assault. Detectives from Kent Police’s Major Crime Unit attended alongside paramedics, but despite receiving immediate medical treatment, the victim died at the scene. His next of kin have been formally notified.
A 26-year-old man from Greater London has since been charged with murder in connection with the fatal attack. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today, Friday 11 September.
Meanwhile, a 22-year-old woman who was initially arrested during the preliminary stages of the inquiry has been released from custody without charge and will face no further action.
Investigating officers continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with relevant information who has not yet come forward.
