A 57-year-old child abuser from Sheerness who bragged online about his appalling crimes has been handed a 22-year prison sentence.
A Maidstone Crown Court jury unanimously convicted the perpetrator of 17 counts—including rape, sexual assault, and causing a child to engage in sexual activity—following a trial in June. The court heard how two young victims were molested and raped over a nine-year period between 2004 and 2013, with details later shared in private online chat rooms. During the same period, a third young victim was subjected to violent physical torture, including strangulation and forced gruelling physical exercise until she vomited.
When police arrested the offender at his home in the Marine Town area, officers also discovered an arsenal of weapons, including four extendable batons, a knife, and a lethal zombie knife.
Appearing for sentencing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, 25 September 2026, he was jailed for 22 years with an extended six-year licence period upon release. He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for life and made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Investigating officer DC Lucas Melella said:
‘These victims went through sustained horrific abuse and Hooper’s depravity will have lifelong consequences for them.
‘Boasting online of his crimes demonstrates not only his remorselessness but also his pride in having committed these sickening crimes.
‘The length of his sentence reflects the seriousness of his offending, and we are satisfied he will now spend a significant number of years behind bars where he can’t harm anyone else.
‘We commend his victims for their bravery and strength throughout this process and we hope this prison sentence will give them some sense of justice.’
