Police and council leaders have fired a stern shot across the bows of boy racers after slapping 26 motorists with legal warnings following a dangerous illegal car meet on Dartford’s streets.

A joint crackdown between Kent Police and Dartford Borough Council saw a fleet of marked and unmarked patrol cars flood regional hotspots like Bob Dunn Way, University Way, and Crossways Boulevard throughout September to stamp out dangerous, nuisance driving.

The operation reached a climax on Friday, 11 September 2026, when officers swooped on Shepherds Lane following desperate calls from local residents reporting petrolheads racing at high speeds.

Patrols immediately descended on the scene to gather crucial evidence and disperse the crowd before working alongside council partners to issue 26 formal Community Protection Warnings to identified drivers. The strict legal notices force offenders to comply with Dartford’s district-wide Public Spaces Protection Order, which bans vehicle racing, stunt driving, engine revving, and excessive noise. Anyone breaching the conditions faces an immediate Community Protection Notice, heavy financial fines, and potential court action.
