Kent Police officers were among a number of organisations at an event to promote safety for women and girls in Canterbury.
Members of the city’s Community Safety Unit joined representatives from Canterbury City Council, Kent County Council, the Street Pastors and Canterbury Bid for the Walk and Talk event on Wednesday 20 July 2022.
The groups spoke to women about any safety concerns they have in the city, so that issues can be addressed in future response planning.
Best-lit routes home
Members of the public were also given advice on the best-lit routes home in the city and places they can seek advice.
PC Christopher Green, of Canterbury Community Safety Unit, said: ‘Canterbury is a safe place to live, work and visit, but we are always keen to hear from the public about any concerns they have.
‘Kent Police is committed to protecting women and girls, be that while they are out and about in the city centre, or at home or work.
‘I urge anyone who has been a victim of violence or other offences to report it to police straight away, so that we can take steps to protect you and bring perpetrators to justice.’
The next Walk and Talk event will be held in Rose Lane at 7pm on Wednesday 10 August.
