Victims of the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria will benefit from donations organised by a senior Kent Police officer.
Superintendent Rachel McNeil has teamed up with the Rotary Club of Ashford and the Ashford Designer Outlet to open a pop-up donation point next door to the Calvin Klein store, having previously done the same for those affected by the war in Ukraine.
The donation point is open every Saturday and Sunday from 11am-3pm until 5 March 2023 with the following items requested:
- Non-perishable food
- Tents
- Blankets
- Sleeping bags
- Nappies and wipes
- Baby food and products
- Cooking utensils and equipment
- Toiletries
- Sanitary products
- New/unworn underwear
- Baby clothes
- Medicines and first aid kits
- Headscarves/undercaps
Rachel said: ‘The earthquakes in Turkey and Syria have torn people’s lives apart and I wanted to do something to help the survivors, as I know lots of other people do too.
‘The response to our previous appeal for the people of Ukraine was tremendous so I was confident we would receive a similar level of donations this time. We have not been disappointed as we have so far received lots of essential items that will hopefully make a big difference to those affected by the earthquakes.
‘I would like to thank everyone who has donated so far, as well as the Rotary Club of Ashford and the Ashford Designer Outlet for their fantastic support.’
