Following recent reports of anti-social behaviour a dispersal order has been put in place in parts of Sheerness.
Kent Police has recently seen an increase in reports of ASB in various areas of Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey which include Marine Parade, The Broadway and Trinity Road.
Enforcement started at midday on Tuesday 23 April 2024 and will run until 12pm on Thursday 25 April. It covers Marine Parade, Trinity Road, Beach Street, The Broadway and the High Street. The area within these roads will be subject to the order.
The dispersal order gives officers additional powers to move on anyone causing a nuisance and, if necessary, arrest those who return to the area once dispersed.
Inspector Vanessa Foster, from Swale’s Community Safety Unit said:
‘We are committed to ensuring residents and visitors feel safe and confident when out and about and we will not tolerate intimidating or nuisance behaviour.
‘Officers will be patrolling the area, and anyone found causing a nuisance will be required to leave. Those that chose to return once dispersed can expect to be detained.’
