A suspect has been charged with murder after a man died following a reported assault on a farm near Canterbury.

Officers from Kent Police were called to a farm off Nickle LaneChartham, at 8.40pm on Sunday 5 May 2024 following a report a man had been assaulted. Police attended the incident along with South East Coast Ambulance Service and a 51-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Arrests and charges

Two men, who are reportedly known to the victim, were arrested as part of an investigation by detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

A man aged from Chartham, has since been charged with murder and affray and a 27-year-old man also from Chartham, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray.

Both men were due to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 8 May.
