A suspect has appeared at court following a reported attempt to steal a woman’s handbag in Dartford.
The incident happened on Friday 3 May 2024, as the victim, who is in her 80s, was waiting at a bus stop in Home Gardens. It is alleged a man approached the pensioner and tried to steal the bag whilst she held onto its strap.
A member of the public intervened and the suspect was arrested by officers called to the scene.
A man, of no fixed address, was later charged by officers from North Kent CID with attempted robbery. The 32-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 4 May. He was remanded to a hearing at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday 31 May.
