Two men have been charged following a violent disturbance in Maidstone in which a teenage boy was seriously injured.
Kent Police responded to reports of fighting outside an address in Bargrove Road at around 9.30pm on Sunday 30 June 2024 after which a 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital with an injury consistent with a stab wound and remains in a serious but stable condition.
Officers arrested an 18-year-old man at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, who was later released on bail pending further enquiries. Three further arrests followed on Tuesday 2 July as part of an ongoing investigation led by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.
A man from Gillingham, has since been charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon (a glass bottle). An 18-year-old man from Dartford, has been charged with the same offences but is alleged to have been in possession of a knife. Both men have been remanded in custody and were due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 4 July.
An 18-year-old woman from London was arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
