Kent Police was called to London Road at around 1.30pm on Wednesday 14 August 2024 when a man was treated for serious injuries. He and a second man were taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers recovered a machete at the scene and have since been carrying out enquiries into the incident with four people arrested in response.

A man aged 23 from Dartford, was charged on Tuesday 20 August with a public order offence, driving while disqualified, using a vehicle without insurance, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, attempted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, threatening a person with a bladed article, and dangerous driving.

He has been remanded and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court on the same day.

Two men, aged 19 and 23, and a woman, aged 18, who were arrested on suspicion of assault, have since been bailed until November pending further investigation.

Investigators are urging anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to the police, to contact the appeal line on 01474 366149, quoting reference 46/137183/24. Residents with private CCTV and motorists with dashcam are also asked to check for any relevant footage.
