Work is to begin this week on essential repairs at two of Thanet’s publicly-owned museums.

Scaffolding will be erected at Margate Museum and the Old Town Hall to facilitate roof and joinery repairs, which are expected to take four weeks. The pathway between the buildings will be closed during this time.

Dickens House Museum will remain open until November 3rd, after which roof repairs will commence. The work is scheduled to be completed before the museum’s Christmas events.

A new Museums Manager will oversee the safe storage of items from Margate Museum during the repairs. Additional repairs are planned for the Tudor House in Margate and Ramsgate Maritime Museum. The work is part of a wider effort to preserve Thanet’s historic buildings.
