A routine evening commute turned into a tragedy on the A21 near Pembury on Saturday, November 16th, 2024 when shortly after 6:00 pm, a man in his 40s lost his life in a series of tragic events.

It began when the victim, driving a white Isuzu pickup truck with a trailer, collided with the central reservation on the coastbound carriageway. Following this initial impact, the man left his vehicle but a devastating turn of events unfolded.

While on foot, the man was struck by two passing vehicles – a grey Vauxhall Vivaro and a grey Skoda Kodiaq and despite the prompt arrival of medical personnel, the man’s injuries were too severe and he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been notified.

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is carrying out enquiries and officers are appealing to witnesses who saw what happened, or have relevant dashcam footage, to come forward. Anyone with information should call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538, or email sciu.td@kent.police.uk, quoting reference EX/HG/109/24.

Drivers with any dashcam recordings that may assist can upload the footage using the online portal Evidence Request from Kent Police and Essex Police
