A further arrest has been made by police investigating a fire at a building in Canterbury city centre.

Kent Police were called to the scene of the fire at a property in Guildhall Street on the evening of Monday 2 December 2024, after being requested to assist firefighters tackling the blaze. Local roads were closed and some residents of nearby properties were evacuated while the fire was extinguished.

On the evening of Wednesday 4 December, a 12-year-old-girl was arrested in connection with the incident and was later bailed pending further enquiries. A 15-year-old boy, who was arrested on Tuesday 3 December, was also bailed while enquiries continue.

Meanwhile a 15-year-old boy from Ashford, who was arrested on Wednesday 4 December, was released without charge.
