A man has been charged following an attempted armed robbery at a post office in Gillingham on Tuesday. Police were called to the premises in Twydall Green at 2.51pm on December 10, 2024, following reports that a staff member had been threatened by a man demanding money. The employee also reported seeing a weapon.

Another member of staff intervened, causing the suspect to flee empty-handed before officers arrived.

Following an investigation, a 40-year-old man of no fixed address, arrested on Monday, December 16, has subsequently been charged with attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent. He was remanded in custody and due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, December 17.
