Kent is bracing itself for a weekend of wintry weather after the Met Office issued several severe weather warnings for the UK. Heavy rain and snow are expected to cause significant disruption across the region.
In the northern and eastern areas of Kent it is expected to be particularly impacted by snowfall, especially over higher ground. Snow accumulations of 10-20cm are predicted, with the potential for blizzard conditions in some areas.
Strong winds are also forecast, which could exacerbate the impacts of both rain and snow, particularly in areas experiencing snowfall.
In some areas persistent and widespread rain is forecast, with accumulations of 50-70mm possible over two days. Some areas could experience even higher totals, reaching up to 140mm. This heavy rainfall significantly increases the risk of flooding and creates hazardous driving conditions.
