Kent is bracing for the impact of Storm Éowyn, which is expected to bring very strong winds and significant disruption across the region on Friday.

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning, advising of potential damage to buildings, widespread power outages, and disruption to travel.

Residents are warned to expect

  • Gusts of 50-60 mph inland, with higher speeds around coasts and hills.
  • Widespread outages are likely, potentially impacting mobile phone coverage and other essential services.
  • Roads, rail, air, and ferry services may face significant delays or cancellations.
  • Large waves and beach material could pose a danger to coastal properties and pedestrians.
