In a significant blow to the local drug trade, a 26-year-old man has been charged following the seizure of cocaine in Chatham. Police patrols, acting on suspicion, intercepted a vehicle on Monday, February 3, 2025, leading to the arrest and subsequent discovery of drugs, cash, and mobile phones.

At approximately 11:40 am, officers spotted a suspicious vehicle in the Magpie Hall Road area. After a brief pursuit to Palmerston Road, the vehicle was stopped, and a man fled on foot. He was apprehended shortly thereafter. A search of the suspect uncovered a quantity of suspected cocaine packaged for distribution, a substantial amount of cash, and two mobile phones.

The man from Rochester, was charged on Tuesday, February 4, with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug and dangerous driving. He appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on the same day and was remanded in custody. He is scheduled to appear at Maidstone Crown Court at a later date.
