A woman in her 80s has been swiftly reunited with cherished family photographs and personal belongings after her handbag was stolen in Folkestone. Kent Police confirmed the recovery less than 24 hours after the incident was reported.

The victim reported the theft on Wednesday, April 23rd, after realizing her bag was missing from the back of her chair outside a supermarket on Bouverie Road West. The stolen handbag contained cash, credit cards, personal items, and irreplaceable sentimental family photographs.

Responding officers conducted CCTV inquiries, which revealed the bag was taken into the store’s restrooms. Authorities successfully located the discarded handbag in a bin inside the store. While £90 in cash was missing, the remaining contents, including the precious photographs, were safely returned to the relieved victim.

Following further investigation, a man in his 40s was apprehended and charged with suspicion of theft. He has since appeared at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court and has been released on bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for May 23rd.
