Kent Police implemented dispersal orders and conducted high-visibility patrols this past weekend, leading to 19 individuals being moved on from town centers and multiple arrests, as authorities continue their efforts to combat antisocial behavior along the Kent coast.

The enhanced police presence, from Friday, June 27, 2025, aimed to address recent incidents of underage street drinking and aggressive behaviour towards staff in local shops and restaurants, which were reported between Thursday, June 19, and Saturday, June 21, 2025. Officers from neighbourhood policing teams swiftly identified and addressed disruptive behaviour, ordering individuals to leave the areas of Herne Bay and Whitstable for 24 hours to prevent their return.

Canterbury officers have also arrested and interviewed four people aged from 12 to 17 in relation to a disturbance in Victoria Park, Herne Bay, which occurred on Monday 23 June 2025. Two people have been bailed with conditions and a further two people have been released under investigation.

Officers have additionally interviewed multiple teenagers in relation to thefts from retail shops in both Herne Bay and Whitstable.

District Commander Chief Inspector, Paul Stoner, said:

“We are committed to tackling antisocial behaviour along our coastline. Through the dispersal orders set in place over the weekend, officers have been able to act swiftly to prevent issues from escalating.

“I understand that antisocial behaviour has become a concern for the communities in both Herne Bay and Whitstable. Residents, visitors, and businesses deserve to feel safe, and Kent Police will continue to work to ensure Herne Bay and Whitstable remain welcoming places for everyone to enjoy.”
