A Bapchild man has been formally charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm after a swift investigation into a petrol station holdup on Sunday night.

A man aged 35 from Bapchild near Sittingbourne was arrested less than an hour after the alleged crime following an immediate response by Kent Police. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, when staff at the London Road petrol station reported that a man had threatened them with a weapon and demanded money. The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed quantity of cash.

Detectives quickly identified and detained a man in connection with the offence. He was formally charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, October 14 where he was remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, November 10.
