A swift and decisive response by Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) averted a potentially serious incident after a fire broke out in the chimney of a commercial property in Lympne, Hythe, on Friday evening.

KFRS crews were called to the scene at 19:18 after reports of a chimney fire. The incident required a significant turnout, with five fire engines dispatched to the scene, along with a specialist height vehicle to access the chimney structure. Firefighters utilized specialized chimney gear to successfully extinguish the blaze. The efforts of the crews brought the incident to a close at 20:29. Crucially, authorities confirmed that there were no reported injuries to any individuals, either staff or emergency personnel, during the operation.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and is likely to be investigated by fire safety officers. This incident serves as a timely reminder for property owners, particularly those with commercial chimneys, to ensure regular maintenance and sweeping to prevent blockages and reduce fire risk.
