A suspect has been charged following an assault on a woman working in a Whitstable pub.
Kent Police was called to The Peter Cushing Wetherspoon’s pub in Oxford Street shortly after 11pm on Friday 19 December 2025 where it was reported that a man refused to leave the premises after which a reported barmaid was assaulted.
Officers arrived along with paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service and a woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment to facial injuries. She has since been discharged.
Initial enquiries were completed and an investigation was launched, leading to the arrest of a man in connection with the incident on the afternoon of Friday 9 January 2026. Later that evening, a man from Herne Bay, was charged with assault and failing to leave a licensed premises. The 24-year-old, was bailed with conditions to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 26 February.
