ASHFORD, Kent — A motorist is under the care of medical professionals on Saturday 14 February after a vehicle was consumed by flames on the M20 Londonbound.
The incident, which occurred between Junction 9 and Junction 8 near Ashford, triggered an immediate response from emergency services as plumes of smoke disrupted the flow of traffic.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) dispatched two fire engines to the scene. Firefighters, operating under challenging conditions, took the following actions:
- Breathing Apparatus: Crews donned specialized gear to battle thick smoke.
- Fire Suppression: High-pressure hose reel jets were deployed to successfully douse the flames.
- Casualty Care: One individual was safely recovered from the scene and immediately handed over to South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) paramedics for assessment and treatment.
While the blaze has been extinguished, the cause of the fire remains a mystery. Fire investigators are currently working to determine exactly what triggered the incident.
