A prolific thief who spent more than two years systematically targeting retailers across Kent has been hit with a stringent Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The legal restriction, secured by Kent Police, officially bans Karl Brazier Denning from every TK Maxx location in the county for the next two years, along with several other retail outlets he frequently targeted.

Between January 2024 and January 2026, Brazier Denning engaged in a sustained shoplifting operation that saw him walking out of supermarkets and high street shops with hundreds of pounds in unpaid merchandise. His activity was particularly focused on Tesco branches in Thanet and Folkestone, where he stole over £420 worth of high-value items including alcohol, meat, and salmon. He later shifted his focus to Boots stores in Ramsgate, Folkestone, and Margate, where he made off with large quantities of cosmetics.

The 32-year-old’s behaviour turned aggressive during a February 2025 incident when he pushed staff members into outdoor furniture and claimed to be armed with a weapon while escaping with over £200 in beauty products. By late 2024, he also began targeting the TK Maxx at Westwood Cross, resulting in the theft of approximately £500 worth of clothing and jackets over multiple visits.

The string of offences finally came to an end following his arrest on March 13, 2026. Although initially detained for a separate matter, investigators successfully linked him to dozens of outstanding reports. Brazier Denning, from Ramsgate, was eventually charged with 32 counts of shoplifting, four burglaries, two assaults, and one count of criminal damage. He was sentenced to 11 months in prison on March 26.

Following his conviction, Margate Magistrates’ Court granted the police’s application for the CBO on April 29. In addition to the store bans, the order imposes specific restrictions intended to prevent further criminal activity. Authorities have warned that any breach of these conditions could result in immediate criminal penalties and a return to custody.
