ST MARY’S BAY – Detectives have launched a formal murder inquiry following the death of a man in his 90s at a property in St Mary’s Bay. Kent Police were called to Holly Road at 9:30 am on Thursday, 14 May 2026, after receiving reports of concern for a resident’s welfare.

Upon arrival, officers and paramedics discovered the elderly man, who was confirmed deceased at the scene. His family has been notified and is being supported by specialist officers.

A man in his 60s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody while the investigation continues. Authorities have confirmed that both men were known to each other, and they are not currently seeking any other suspects in relation to the death.

Forensic teams remain at the Holly Road address to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
