Kent Police have launched an investigation following the discovery of a number of dead puppies buried in a field near Maidstone, prompting an urgent appeal for witnesses and CCTV footage.

A member of the public alerted authorities after finding the remains near the Detling Community Store and Post Office on Pilgrims Way at approximately 3:10 PM on Monday, 10 August 2026. Attending officers subsequently uncovered several additional shallow burial sites across the same field.

Investigators are working alongside partner agencies to establish the cause of death and determine how the animals came to be left at the location.


Detective Inspector Tristan Stevens urged local residents and passersby to check any private CCTV or dashcam footage from the area.
