Five suspected burglars have been tracked down and arrested less than an hour after reports of suspicious activity in Chatham.

Weapons and drugs were also seized from the suspects’ car, which was stopped during the morning of Thursday 13 January 2022.

Kent Police was initially called at 3.10am, to a report of intruders in the garden of a property in Palmerstone Road.

Officers attended and enquiries quickly led to the identification of a Mercedes believed to be linked to the suspects.

Tracked and arrested

At around 3.50am, the car was located in Weston Road, Strood and all five passengers were arrested on suspicion of burglary.

The suspects were later bailed, pending further enquires, to return to a police station between 6 and 7 February.
