DOUBT OVER RAIL SERVICE TO DOVER

KCC Cabinet Member for Regeneration Alex King gave a cautious welcome to the Strategic Rail Authority's blueprint for new services issued today.

The SRA confirmed that new high speed services from St Pancras will go to Ebbsfleet, the Medway towns, Ashford, Ramsgate, Canterbury, Sittingbourne, Faversham and Folkestone. But there is still a question mark over whether they will go to Dover Priory.

Mr King said "It looks as if the rail authority has listened to our views about the need for high-speed services to run all the way to the Kent coast. However, we will need reassurance about their proposals for Dover Priory.
