Nearly three hundred postal vote forms and ballot papers for Folkestone and Hythe residents have not been handed over to the Royal Mail for posting.

They were discovered at the Op2vote print centre.

Shepway District Council is advising anyone who has not received theirs to apply for a replacement ballot paper in person.

Op2vote was contracted to issue the postal vote packs on behalf of the council.

A statement from Op2vote apologised to the council for the error  saying that all the postal vote packs which had not been handed over to the Royal Mail a week ago were handed over on Tuesday and posted first class that night.

Acting Returning Officer Alistair Stewart  said postal voters who had not received their packs should contact the election office on 01303 852315 and arrangements would be made to issue replacement packs.

Replacements can be issued any time up until 5.00pm on Wednesday.

People who receive their ballot packs have until 1000 BST on Thursday to return them in person to the Civic Centre in Castle Hill Avenue, Folkestone, or hand them in at any polling station.
