I WOULD VOLUNTEER Re: Laser gun villagers miss out zapping speeding motorists

Dear Ed,

I sometimes find it absolutely amazing when someone or a representative body (in this case the parish council) turn down an offer of self help.

Either the parish council is so out of touch with the local situation that it (as a representative body) does not understand what is going on, or the individuals are afraid of being found out (as a motorist who flouts the laws concerning observing speed limits), or they just don't care about it.

There is no doubt that generally there is an increase in the numbers of drivers who have no regard for the speed limits set around the village.   Unfortunately this extends to those who should know better and I include drivers working for Shepway DC and the local bus company as well as those working for contractor who support the council.

I for one would be willing to volunteer for such work and I am sure that there are many like minded souls around.
