Following the recent meeting of The Trustees of the Hawkinge Community Centre, the Trustees are pleased to announce interim funding has been secured which will cover the Trust’s commitments in the short term.
Furthermore, there is also the possibility of a donation of matched funding to anything that can be raised by the Parish Council in support of the Community Centre.
The Trustees, who are all volunteers, were very disappointed that the details of the confidential financial briefing was publicised in the Herald article bringing unnecessary concern to many of the users, especially as we were confident that with the right support there was never any possibility that the Community Centre would close.
John Heasman, the Chairman said, “All the Trustees are very committed and put a lot of time and effort into ensuring that the Community Centre is well run.  It is a wonderful facility for Hawkinge and our bookings for September are up on last year with many local clubs and societies regularly using the Centre.  We have a small team of dedicated staff who work very hard to ensure that the building is staffed when anyone uses itâ€?.
The Trustees went on to say that it should be remembered it takes time to build any business.
The business plan was submitted and agreed by the Parish Council when the Trust was first formed and they were recently updated with regard to the cash flow problems we have recently experienced.
We sincerely hope that we can now move forward with both the Parish Council and the Hawkinge Partnership to ensure that the Hawkinge Community Centre goes from strength to strength.
