Neighbourhood Watch have issued the following message concerning the giving of details, mainly banking ones, over the phone.

Never give any details whatsoever over the phone.  All banks assure us that they will never phone to say that unusual purchase patterns are occurring on your account or ask if you have made a purchase for a specific amount of money.

They will never ask you for your credit card number, your PIN number or the security number on the back of your card.  Just think about it, why would they?  They issued you with all of these numbers, if you wish to change your PIN number to something memorable to yourself that is between you and the machine requiring the number.  Nobody else needs to know it, not even family members or close friends.

There are some very unpleasant people out there who may try and get this information from you, always be on your guard.
