Children from Selsted Church of England Primary School will be taking part in an attempt to smash two Guinness World Records on Saturday/Sunday 17/18 June.

The 24-strong group will be hosting a local sleepover on the Saturday evening as part of the national BT Giant Sleepover.  This will be one of hundreds of simultaneous charity sleepovers around the UK raising money for Childline and, locally for Selsted Primary School.

The BT Giant Sleepover aims to break the Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous sleepover - a record that was set by last year's sleepover event.  The 2005 BT Giant Sleepover set a new Guinness World Record with 31,584 participants in 1,016 sleepovers from Delhi, India to the Falkland Islands making it bigger than the London Marathon in just 2 years.  The Largest Simultaneous Sleepover World Record requires participants to sleep or have lights out for 7 hours or more.

On the Sunday morning after the sleepover, the local youngsters will also take part in the Aquafresh Minty Mouth Challenge - an attempt to break the Biggest Simultaneous Teeth Brushing Guinness World Record - with a 2-minute teeth brushing session across the UK.

More than 40,000 children aged 6-11 years are expected to take part in the BT Giant Sleepover.  Locally, the children from Selsted Primary School have got plenty of excitement planned for the evening including fun-packed games with prizes donated by Debenhams in Folkestone, treasure hunts and entertainment.

Sarah Redmond Secretary of the Friends of Selsted School who are organising the event said: "It's going to be a great fun event which also means that the children can raise money for a very worthwhile cause.  We are delighted to be involved".
