Youngsters seen inside Hawkinge Community
Centre

Young people have apparently been spotted inside the Community
centre.... and according to reports there is a pool table and a
computer game machine being installed soon.

What a difference a few months under new
management makes. Well done to Tony Hutt and his team.

Villagers complaining about parking on footpaths

Community Warden, Tanya Clark is urging people living in the village
to show a bit of consideration when it comes to parking their cars.

Villagers have been complaining about cars
blocking driveways and parking too close to junctions, making it difficult
to see if the road is clear when trying to cross.

Many are fed up with the number of blocked footpaths, especially those pushing prams
or in wheelchairs, who have to use the road because cars, often
belonging to residents are parked on the pavement.

It is not just inconvenient but could also be extremely dangerous.

Had to shout here! here!

Thanks to 'Dourman' for the posting on the GO Forum under Snow causes
schools to shut. How many of you agree I wonder?

Our esteemed poster writes: "Two inches - sorry 5 centimetres of
snow and the schools close.

"Not in my day, even a hefty foot (30
centimetres) would merely have the caretaker spreading more rock
salt around. Are we wimps or are we just being taught to be wimps?"

What sort of example are schools setting our youngsters? Where is the gumption which I and no doubt other people of my age were told was so important?

Initiative appears now to have sadly been replaced by rules and regulations.
