After a gruelling audition process, twenty-five youngsters from Dover, Deal and Folkestone won  places at the week-long Easter workshop to work with West End Musical Director Andrew Freisner, and professional fight choreographers Orlando Brooke and Nicholas John from Swordplay.

The workshops culminated with  Dover youth theatre members taking part in a free public performance in the Town Hall on Thursday.

Among the musicals featured in the show were Gypsy, Hairspray, Westside Story, South Pacific, Finian's Rainbow, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Sweet Charity, Blood Brothers, I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, and Billy Liar.

A well-supported raffle helped raise money to pay for the production, which was part-sponsored by The Dover Town Council, London Fancy Box, KCC, The Silly Committee, Bradley's and Pharos Insurance. Raffle prizes were donated by Ann and Pams, Stuff, The Paint and Decor Centre, The Hobby Shop, B & H Fireplaces, John Angell, and Curiosity of Dover.

The next Dover Youth Theatre show will be: The Summer Workshop / Community Event, "The Wizard of Oz" in late June / early July 09 in Connaught Park as part of the DYT Community Outreach. For more information contact Marie Kelly-Thomas on 01304 202544.
