Crime: Detectives charge man with murder of teenager in Gillingham

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have charged a 19-year-old man with the murder of a Medway teenager.


Victor Maibvisira, 19, from Gillingham, has been charged with one count of murder and one count of affray. He was arrested by officers on Tuesday 10 October 2017 in Woolwich, London, say police.


Officers launched a murder enquiry after Kent Police was called to East Street, Gillingham, at 8.10pm on Friday 6 October 2017 where 17-year-old Kyle Yule, from Gillingham, was fatally injured.

A number of people were reported to be causing criminal damage to a silver Renault Clio shortly before Kyle was stabbed. He later died in hospital.

Further arrests

Two teenagers, a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, and a 20-year-old man, all from the Gillingham area, were each arrested on Wednesday 11 October 2017.

The 15-year-old has since been released under investigation. The other two people remain in custody at this time.

Three other people from Gillingham, two teenagers aged 15 and 16-years-old and one man aged 18, have all been bailed until various dates in November.

A 20-year-old man, also from Gillingham and who was also arrested has been released under investigation.
